Not one of their fragrances were "proprietary"- every single one was a dupe. They had AFI replicate fragrances by Tom Ford, Byredo, etc. Another lie told by 16/17.

I hadn’t heard that, but I find it very interesting. How do you know they were duped? Are you familiar with high-end fragrances like those? I’m just learning, and unfortunately I haven’t smelled any of the 16/17 fragrances yet and I can’t afford luxury perfumes, although I’ve just recently found a few affordable sample websites. I’m hesitant to order any samples because I’m afraid of getting knock-offs. It is far too easy to duplicate scents.

AFI confirmed 16/17 purchased already existing fragrances and 16/17 put their name on them. Sixteen Seventeen marketed the fragrances as their unique blends that they spent time creating and testing. This was false, AFI owned the IP and sold the frangrances to companies. There are candle vessels Sixteen Seventeen marketed as 'proprietary' and said 'they created them' when in fact they were private label products imported from suppliers on Alibaba. Importyeti.com confirms their suppliers and they are on Alibaba with the same vessels. Their wax supplier Calwax has confirmed the #7 is actually CB2 and the #9 is actually Cal Maison and they sold the same wax to other companies. 16/17 bought it private label and marketed it as 'proprietary.' Uncovering the lies this company told to its customers is staggering. They had no customer transparency, right to when they shut their doors.

Wow. Thanks for sharing these details. I was wondering how so many suppliers got the original fragrance formulas so quickly.
