In the blink of an eye, the fragrance community found itself grappling with the abrupt closure of Sixteen Seventeen, a supplier renowned for its luxury vessels, waxes, and unique fragrance oils. With no forewarning, the cherished 16/17 products that adorned the shelves of candlemakers vanished overnight, leaving a void and a myriad of unanswered questions.

The recent weeks had witnessed what appeared to be a moving sale, an everything-must-go affair. However, the scent-savvy enthusiasts were caught off guard when the promotion took an unforeseen turn, and Sixteen Seventeen announced the immediate shuttering of its doors. The initial anticipation turned to bewilderment, and the community found itself on a rollercoaster of emotions.

Regular customers were greeted with a terse email, a mere five sentences expressing gratitude for years of support and the stark reality that "effective today, we have made the very difficult decision to close our doors for good." The suddenness of the announcement left loyal patrons in a state of confusion, compounded by the fact that the website vanished without warning.

As concerns grew, particularly with tax season looming, customers fretted over the inability to access invoices crucial for validating expenses from the previous year. Compassion and concern poured in from the fragrance community, but so did justified anger over the lack of prior notice.

Candlemakers, who meticulously tested 16/17 products for their craft, now found themselves grappling with uncertainty. The closure triggered questions about the availability of luxury vessels, wax, wicks, and unique fragrance oils that seemingly had no counterpart in the market.

Speculation regarding the reason behind the closure circulated within the community, with some suggesting it might be attributed to the perception of being too expensive. Amidst the expressions of goodwill, dissenting voices questioned the sincerity of well-wishing for a closure perceived as leaving customers high and dry.

As the fragrance community mourns the sudden disappearance of 16/17's unique fragrance line, inquiries arise about why the business didn't sell its custom fragrance and wax blend formulas to another supplier. While Crimson Candle Supplies expresses interest in acquiring 16/17’s proprietary blends, concerns about duplicating scents underscore the fragility that small suppliers face.
